ØK-nytt uke 18

After almost three years, the HMS group at IØT has successfully organized and completed the Research group trip to Ålesund.

The trip involved climate-friendly travel by train and bus, team-building exercises, industrial visits, and a 1-day workshop with colleagues from NTNU Ålesund campus. The 11-members from HMS groups were well received by the “United Future Labs” and Augment City AS, where we learned about the organization of the industrial cluster in Ålesund and their ambitions towards excelling in H, M, and S aspects within the region. Further at the Augment City AS, the HMS group witnessed the application of machine learning, digitalization, and AI in creating a working simulation prototype for the various regions in Norway. The potential to collaborate with Augment City and United Future Labs was discussed in the meeting held on Tuesday, 3rd May.

On 4th May, HMS group from IØT met the colleagues and researchers from the Institutt for internasjonal forretningsdrift (IIF) and the Institutt for havromsoperasjoner og byggteknikk (IHB). The HMS group was well received by the NTNU Ålesund vice rector and former HMS group member, Prof. Annik Magerholm Fet, IIF nesteleder for research Øivind Strand, Asso. Prof. Amin Moazami from IHB and others including Asso. Prof. Mark Pasquine, Asso. Prof. Dina Aspen, Asso. Prof. Richard Glavee-Geo and several PhD students from IIF Ålesund.

For the HMS group visit to the Ålesund campus, a 1-day workshop was planned at TEFT Labs co-working space at the NTNU Ålesund campus. This meeting aimed to explore the collaboration opportunities among both campuses of NTNU and realize the One NTNU Vision. Accordingly, the colleagues from Trondheim and Ålesund presented their current academic and research involvements for their respective groups. Further, the participants were divided into dedicated groups to explore concrete collaboration plans on academic and research fronts in the coming future. These collaboration plans will be formally exchanged among the colleagues of the HMS Group, IIF, TEFT Labs, and IHB of NTNU.
