Trondheim Jazz Orchestra and Come Shine

Trondheim Jazz Orchestra and Come Shine

Both Trondheim Jazz Orchestra and Come Shine have their origins from the renowned Jazz Department at NTNU in the late 1990’s. The reputation they have built in Norway since then is quite astonishing. Come Shine, with their highly original interpretations of the standard jazz repertoire, have toured frequently all over the country, as quartet, but also in collaboration with some of the best classical orchestras in Norway.

Trondheim Jazz Orchestra’s first public appearance was with Chick Corea at Moldejazz in 2000. Erlend Skomsvoll had made some playful arrangements of Corea’s music, with the legend himself behind the keyboard. TJO & Corea have received standing ovations in Tokyo, New York and North Sea Jazz Festival, as well as during three tours in Norway since then. Today the orchestra is led by bass player Ole Morten Vågan.

TJO is very active, with a string of many different projects and associated composers, they are frequently playing at Norway and Europe’s major jazz festivals.
