Adult learning is an interdisciplinary field where the point of departure is an expanded learning concept which includes learning through education, work and participation in society. Changes in society require continuous restructuring which in turn presents new challenges to learning on both the individual and systemic levels. In such a shifting environment ViLL is interested in the factors that prevent or promote quality in adult learning. Quality refers to conditions that promote learning in formal and non-formal learning arenas in working life and society in general.
Our main challenge is to develop and consolidate a strong research environment and establish an exciting educational environment in close cooperation with other academic communities inside and outside NTNU, while also informing about the core of our own research work. Our research is organized into interdisciplinary groups to give substance to ViLL's core activities.
