SciFinder (Chemical Abstracts) on the web

The database Chemical Abstracts (SciFinder) is only available for employees and students at NTNU via the web. You have to register before you can use the database.

IF YOU HAVE NOT REGISTERED FOR USING THE WEB VERSION OF SciFinder, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION

To get access to the web version, each user has to register and make their own username and password.
NB!NB! During the registration each user HAS TO inform about their own NTNU mailaddress. No other mailaddress is accepted by the system. This is to verify that you are a student or an employee at NTNU

A link named "SciFinder registrering" is available on the norwegian version of Innsida in the infobox placed in the right column. Notice that this link is only for registration and not for searching in the database.
After the registration you will receive a message from CAS in your NTNU mailbox asking you to confirm the registration within 48 hours.

After the registration you can access SciFinder via this link

ERROR MESSAGE WHEN TRYING TO LOGIN
If you get the following message when you try to loging to SciFinder : "Your allocated system resources are currently unavailable to access SciFinder" it means that all 6 available simultaneous users are in use (see below). Please try a bit later.

It is also important that you "logout" from the system when you are finished, so new users can have access.

OTHER INFO

When you access SciFinder through the web interface, you have to accept some user conditions, amongst others confirm that you are a student or an employee at NTNU. It is also written that you can contact the "SciFinder key contact" if you have questions about SciFinder. Your local contact is Tove Knutsen (look below)

SciFinder has a limit of six simultaneous users.
