Biological and Cognitive Psychology
By integrating neurobiological and psychological knowledge, we aim to describe mental processes related to cognitive and emotional information processing, including sense perception, learning, memory, language and thinking.

This programme is suited for those with an interest in the biological and cognitive aspects of psychology. The programme includes many different research areas within these fields, including:

  • sense perception
  • learning
  • memory
  • speech
  • language
  • thinking

It is possible to research into infant development, perceptual-motor coordination, language and speech perception and development, etc. The programme is both theoretical and practical as students may work directly in research projects.

Career opportunities
The demand for qualifications within psychology is increasing and the discipline appears to be expanding its applicability as well as its scope on the job market. With a Master's degree in Psychology with specialization in cognitive/biological psychology, you have the foundation for a research-based career, either within the private sector or in the university and university college system. In addition, you will be qualified for different tasks within the health sector, education and in industry.

The superiority of this programme lies in its field of specialization. The education is not tailored to suit one particular position – rather it provides profound and specialized knowledge within cognitive and biological psychology. In addition, our research environment has access to the very latest within technically advanced research equipment, and the use of this equipment will be emphasized.

Programme structure
The programme includes both compulsory courses and electives, in addition to a master's thesis of 60 ECTS. The teaching includes seminars, lectures and group exercises. In addition, there are exercises related to laboratory work/field work with following oral presentations. Individual advice will be given at all levels, particularly in connection with the learning of any experimental procedures, data processing, literature and treatment of academic material, as well as in connection with written and oral presentations.
