Faglig innhold

The main objective of practical training is to offer students tangible experience and help develop their skills and understanding of the significance of their future professional role, including a different cultural setting. In order to achieve this students should manage to
- carry through a practice based on knowledge and experience in a foreign setting
- consider what is relevant knowledge and skill in the local cultural context
- carry thorough a practice relevant to the requirements as a social educator
- make judgments according to respect and understanding
- cooperate with staff, the clients and their related persons, family and others.
- acquire knowledge about international agreements, conventions about people with disabilities and their rights
- acquire knowledge about global health issues, social work issues and social policy.

Læringsutbytte

Students who complete the course will know about:
- UN convention of disability rights
- WHO, work and policy documents towards health for all and global health
- Norwegian policy regarding global health and social work
- the target group at the practice placement, their challenges and needs
Students who complete the course will have the following skills
- could use the relevant tools of the discipline, including knowledge about the organization of services and framework conditions
- be able to acquire knowledge about key work methods and forms of treatment in use at the practice placement
- be able to apply knowledge about different types of intellectual disability and disability in general
- could reflect on his/her own skills in relation to developing professional skills as a social educator
- manage to convey their knowledge and insight in another language and to an audience with a different background
- should be able to tell about and use some of the Norwegian cultural artifacts
- should be able to use at home knowledge from studies abroad when working with clients with different ethnic and cultural background
- be able to carry out practical training with disabled persons as ADL
As much as possible the student should use his ability to work independently, but also be able to collaborate with local staff
To be innovative and solution oriented in a new cultural context
General considerations
Students should
- know about the health and social services, the organization and policy towards persons with disabilities in the receiving country
- acquire relevant knowledge about issues related to disciplinary and ethical quality assurance
- be able to apply knowledge about interaction, communication and the work environment
- know about the law and regulations in the receiving country relevant for the services offered to persons with disabilities.
- cooperate with the supervisor/hosting institution making an action plan that describes what ought to be done, how the learning objectives can be achieved, responsibilities and general progress.

Studentkontrakt som synliggjør studentenes ansvar før, under og etter utreisepersoden skal være signert før utreise, se e-læringsplattform
Arbeidskrav 1: Studenten må utarbeide læringsplan
Arbeidskrav 2: Individuell skriftlige oppgaver som vurderes til godkjent eller ikke godkjent
Arbeidskrav 3: Det gjennomføres veiledningssamtaler via videokonferanse med lærer fra utdanningen som studentenskal delta på, mer detaljert informasjon, se læringsplattform
Arbeidskrav 4: Gjennomføre en workshop på et vernepleie faglig tema på praksisstedet/landet
Arbeidskrav 5: Etter hjemkomst skal studentene skrive en rapport som evaluerer forberedelse og praksisutveksling og hjemkomst. Denne skal presenteres for medstudenter ved NTNU.
Studenten skal etter hjemkomst gjennomføre en debrifing med lærer fra utdanningen

Dersom studenten får karakteren ikke bestått på praksiseksamen, må hele praksisperioden gjennomføres på nytt påfølgende høstsemester. Studenten har anledning til å fremstille seg for praksiseksamen to ganger. Se Retningslinjer for gjennomføring og vurdering av praksisstudier ved de helse- og sosialfaglige utdanningene ved NTNU.

Spesielle vilkår

Vurderingsmelding krever godkjent undervisningsmelding samme semester. Obligatorisk aktivitet fra tidligere semester kan godkjennes av instituttet.

Forkunnskapskrav

Completed 1. and 2. year , and the course is subject to admission requirements, i.e. it is restricted to students who have been admitted to the bachelor's programme of social education at NTNU in Trondheim.
