DNA repair
Use of cellular imaging at the DNA repair group, Faculty of Medicine, IKM
At the DNA repair group at IKM we are studying Base Excision Repair and direct base repair. We have used confocal microscopy to study the in vivo localisation of the different repair proteins involved in these pathways in our research. We have since 1997 used the Green Fluorescence Protein and variants thereof to study localisation, co-localisation between proteins and re-localisation of DNA repair protein upon DNA damage. Furthermore, we have established the use of Fluorescent Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET) to study in vivo interactions.
