Research

Nanotechnology is a multidiciplinary science with roots within most of the traditional scientific diciplines. This is reflected by the variety of research groups interested in nanoscience and nanotechnology at NTNU. It is also to a large extent a cross diciplinary science, since the traditional diciplines tend to converge at the nanoscale.

NTNU NanoLab has chosen four prioritized research areas:

There will be some overlap between these areas, and some research might be of relevance for more than one of the areas. As of today nanotechnological research is mainly of a fundamental nature. However, the potential for future applications is large. It is therefore the aim of NTNU NanoLab to be a promoter in process of establishing new industrial initiatives in Norway.
