The Section of Natural History carries out research within the disciplines of biogeography, taxonomy and ecology. Conservation biology has a high priority. As a museum section, it has a special responsibility to build up, maintain and present the scientific collections of objects (biological specimens), time series and biological and environmental data for use in research, education, resource management, and as documentation of our natural heritage. Staff members offer tuition and supervise student research. Ringve Botanical Gardens and Kongsvoll Biological Station and Alpine Garden are all run by the section.
