About EDWOR
With a unique focus on action research for both learning and research, each year EDWOR provides
- four weeks of class meetings and independent study with faculty advisors
- an ongoing learning community of PhD candidates, faculty group, and invited faculty
- one week in the UK, Singapore, Spain, or the USA to learn about the worklife, culture, and intellectual climate outside of Norway
The first two years of EDWOR II (2007-2008) focused on ten weeks of coursework, providing candidates in-depth knowledge of theory of science, work-life research, and business and regional development. In the final two years (2009-2010), candidates focus on developing their theses in preparation for submitting a dissertation.
The course content of EDWOR II connects theoretical reflection and practical experience in developmental processes based on action research methodology. This enables substantial knowledge generation in work life research, innovation systems, and democratic practice.
The program is specifically designed for researchers working in the field. It is expected that the experiences from the field provide the research topic for the dissertation.
EDWOR II is funded by grants from the Norwegian Research Council (NRC) through the Programme for Regional R&D and Innovation (VRI) . EDWOR II builds on the experience of EDWOR I funded by NRC through the Programme Value Creation 2010 (VS2010). EDWOR I ended in January 2007.
