Research Activities at IndEcol
The research activities at the Industrial Ecology Programme are initiated and organised in order to support a research based education in our MSc in Industrial Ecology. We focus on research collaboration in a multidisciplinary setting, but with an emphasis to research issues or methodologies that we believe have potentials for advancing the area of Industrial Ecology within our university. We give a high priority to research projects at the PhD and Post-doctoral level, as well as students' research projects at the graduate level.
We are involved in a larger Norwegian research programme "Productivity 2005" (or P2005), which is in operation from1998 through 2005. This programme aims to strengthen strategic competence in Norwegian manufacturing industries. Our project "P2005 Industrial Ecology" is one of the key focus areas in P2005, and gives us a long-term financial basis for the development of theory and methodology in the area of Industrial Ecology. A significant part of the overall activity within IndEcol is related to the development of the LCA-laboratory.
Sustainable Consumption is a new research area which we plan to expand in the future. We currently participate in "Evaluating examples of sustainable consumption" as well as a number of collaborations. Further, the FESCOLA project has recently been completed.
Finally, we have also succeeded in contracting some other projects in Industrial Ecology on the basis of strategic funds from the Norwegian Research Council and funds from other sources.
