The Nordic Theoretical Archaeology Group (TAG) is a regular series of Scandinavian conferences that focus on debating central theoretical questions and perspectives within archaeology. The conference is aimed at archaeologists and archaeology students in all branches of the discipline from Scandinavian universities, museums and other institutions concerned with antiquity. The Department of Archaeology and Religious Studies at NTNU, Trondheim, Norway are hosting and arranging the tenth Nordic TAG Conference between 26th and 29th of May 2009. The conference will take place at The Stiklestad National Culture Centre at Verdal, Northern Trøndelag. The centre lays roughly an hour’s drive from Trondheim Airport (Værnes) and is built near the spot where King Haraldsson fell in the Battle of Stiklestad on July 29th 1030. As the historical venue for one of the most important events in Norwegian history and with it’s location in a landscape rich in cultural remains from the earliest times until today, the Stiklestad National Conference Centre will hopefully prove the ideal venue for presentations and discussions that arise from day to day archaeological research, cultural heritage management and public dissemination.
