29th October 2010- Frozen Loose Ends
After a short break, it’s back to the grindstone again. The Frozen Pasts Symposium was a success with many interesting and stimulating presentations, a collegial atmosphere and last but not least beautiful weather during the excursions. Thank you all for your participation and efforts during the meeting. We have uploaded the FP Book of Abstracts and a few photographs from both the conference and excursions. A number of media links related to Frozen Pasts 2010 have also been uploaded. Our work here goes over into another phase now, with the planned Frozen Pasts publication. In this regard we will be contacting FP2010 contributors in the near future.

In the meantime, we can also look forward to a new meeting in the Yukon in 2012. If you wish to be included in the mailing list for the 2012 meeting, please contact us here in Trondheim as we will continue to collect details until the Yukon meeting is up and running. (MC)

21 st September 2010 - Registration for Frozen Pasts is now closed and we are busy with the final preparations

And in the course of next week all participants will receive a preliminary info sheet. In other words plenty going on, but if you should have any queries or questions at this stage, please don't hesitate before taking contact with the organisers. (MC)

30th August 2010- Heidi Sørensen to hold opening paper at Frozen Pasts Conference in Trondheim
State Secretary Heidi Sørensen of the Norwegian Ministry of the Environment will present the opening paper at the Frozen Pasts conference in October. Melting alpine snow patches that produce archaeological finds are the focus of considerable national and local attention at the moment in Norway, as they are clear and present manifestations of the effects of a warming climate on our alpine and sub-arctic environments, both natural and cultural. The Secretary’s paper will further expand on these issues and NTNU are very pleased to welcome her to the Frozen Pasts conference in Trondheim in October. (MC)

3rd August 2010 - Registration Deadline Extended - 3rd September 2010
It appears as if the original deadline of 1st August has collided with summer holidays and field-work. We are therefore extending the deadline for registration to Frozen Pasts until Friday 3rd September. All participants, including those presenting papers at the conference need to register for Frozen Pasts. Registration can be completed by following the link at the bottom of this page. (MC)

26th February 2010 - Program Changes
Please note that we have made a slight adjustment to the provisional program as first announced. The arrangements initially planned for the evening of the 4th October are now excluded. Instead we will begin on the morning of the 5th October with registration and a key notes address. Among other things, this will give our transatlantic friends some extra time to recover and adjust from the trip. At this stage we do not expect any further changes to the program (MC).

26th January 2010 - First Announcement sent out
We are now finished with sending out the first announcement for Frozen Pasts and the response has been good. We have had a number of enquires regarding the meeting and have even received a few paper proposals. The website will be updated continually as new details fall into place. For example we have added a proposal form to the ‘Call for Papers’ section which can be used for paper/poster proposals. At the moment we are working on the excursion and will post more details of this running up to the 1st March when registration opens. We will also be adding travel and accommodation information in the near future. (MC)
