Nye prosjekter | SPARC Snow patch archeology research cooperation - The effects of climate change on vulnerable high mountain heritage environments (Ivar Berthling, Geir Vatne, Linda Kristiansen). SPARC is coordinated by NTNU Vitenskapsmuseet. SPARC focuses on perennial high-mountain snow patches (PSPs) as long-term hunting environments. In certain regions PSPs contain important prehistoric artefacts, ecofacts and sites. The low-temperature conditions make for excellent preservation of organic remains, sometimes surviving inside the ice for thousands of years. In recent years, PSPs have been receding, thus subjecting archaeological sites and fragile finds to exposure and deterioration. Firstly, there is the challenge of securing information related to the PSP heritage environments and uncovering their cultural historical significance; secondly, to investigate PSPs and their development as a natural systems in order to be able to predict future challenges regarding heritage preservation; and thirdly, to underpin heritage management, organization and dissemination. | | Revisiting gender in Development: Complex inequalities in Changing Asia (Ragnhild Lund) This research project aims to primarily re-visit the concept of gender in a rapidly changing Asia that offers changing economic, political and social conditions in various contexts, in order to offer new pathways for the transformation of gender inequalities in developing contexts. Gender dimensions of new 'lived realities' will be explored with respect to gender equity measures in the context of globalization; tensions between institutions of control and frameworks of gender justice and rights; environmental change; global restructuring and gendered participation; and how gender intersects with ethnicity, religion, class, citizenship and sexuality. http://www.svt.ntnu.no/geo/forskning/default_e.asp?menu=Projects&projectid=1315547423 | Turisme i verneområder (Karoline Daugstad) Geografisk institutt er med på et nytt forskningsprosjekt, Prospects for Managing Tourism Development in Protected Areas in a Period of Transition (PROTOUR), sammen med UMB (prosjektleder), Transportøkonomisk institutt, NINA, Oregon State University og University of Otago (NZ). A Focus Group Study on Traditional Use and Tourism Development in and around Rondane and Jotunheimen National Parks in Norway, Scandinavian Journal of Hospitality and Tourism, 11:sup1, 13-37.
