Joining forces for a green economy

In the 2011 edition of the World Energy Outlook, The International Energy Agency (IEA) states that the high-carbon infrastructure ‘lock-in’ is making the 2 °C climate change goal more challenging and expensive to meet. We are post-Durban, pre-Rio and Qatar. Seemingly endless negotiations, hardly measureable progress and yet we know that action is required.

To find the keys for unlocking these issues NTNU and SINTEF have initiated and joined forces with national and international companies, universities and public organizations to create a dialogue between researchers, politicians and business leaders. Together with 20 other organizations, we have established Technoport, a member organization, dedicated to promoting smart technology in the transition towards the green economy.

"More than 800 students are working in teams on projects relevant to the UN Rio +20 conference in June 2012."

The international conference Technoport 2012 – Sharing Possibilities will be held on 16-18 April in Trondheim, Norway. During Technoport RERC Research we will gather hundreds of researchers from all fields of renewable energy research. The second part of the conference, the Technoport Summit, will promote different perspectives on how transition-centred technology can contribute to limiting the impact of climate change. Researchers will present what is achievable through science and technology, while business leaders and politicians will present their ambitions and efforts.

This GEMINI features an innovative study programme at NTNU. More than 800 students from NTNU’s compulsory master’s programme course Experts in Teamwork are working in teams on projects relevant to Technoport and the UN Rio conference (Rio+20) in June 2012. The students will exhibit their results on 18 April during the Technoport conference.

We invite you to take part in the sharing of possibilities, and hope to see you at Technoport 2012 - Sharing Possibilities, on 16-18 April 2012 in Trondheim Norway.
