Main types of fuelcellsThese are the main types of fuel cell, classified according to their typical working temperatures: oC approx. Alkaline cells 120 Polymer cells 100 Solid-oxide cells 1,000 Phosphoric acid cells 200 Carbonate molten cells 650 The research groups at the NTH Department of Electrochemistry and SINTEF Group for Electrochemical Energy Technology are concentrating on solid-oxide cells. Much of this research is being done in collaboration with other Scandinavian universities, colleges and institutes within the "Nordic Energy Research Programme," and in collaboration with the Research Council of Norway and the Ministry of Industry and Energy. A project group at NTH´s Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering is working with polymer cells. |
