The research

The "Low Emission Diesel Engines" R&D project (1991 - 1994) covers the following topics. (Lead R & D institutions in parentheses):

Combustion technology: simulation and numerical tools for the development of engine technology reducing environmental loads (MARINTEK); practical engine trials (MARINTEK, Ulstein Bergen); development of new systems for better combustion control (MARINTEK, Ulstein Bergen).

Fuels: trials of different fuels, fuel mixtures and additives (MARINTEK).
