Trials in contaminated ground

In the laboratory at the Dept. of Geotechnical engineering, tests of the rate of penetration of oil through soil are also under way. The project is being carried out by two students under the guidance of Professor Kåre N. Senneset, and in collaboration with NTH's Dept. of Petroleum Engineering and Applied Geophysics. The project team is studying the rate at which oil spreads through different types of soil, under different conditions. The results may be useful in fields tests which will be carried out at the Norwegian State Railways´ workshops in Trondheim, where the soil is heavily contaminated.
