About my fields of experience
Since my graduation in 1981 as civil engineer from dept. of urban and regional planning, I have been working on a wide field of planning-related disciplines, as researcher, as university lecturer and as consulting adviser both in Norway and abroad. My teaching efforts have covered development and use of geographical information systems (GIS) and other computer-based tools for planning purposes, but also general planning subjects, like planning theory, master planning and demography.
During 9 years of research, first with the Norwegian institute of urban and regional research (NIBR), I have contributed to studies of urban floor space use and land use in Norway, and to early projects related to the field of environmental impacts assessment (EIA). My assignments during the SINTEF-period (2002-2005) have been on the application of automated systems for road pricing, tolling and fare collection, on transport safety and on “intelligent transport systems” (ITS).
As a consultant adviser I have extensive experience as project manager for a large number of projects. These comprise urban and regional transport analysis and planning, model development and model applications, electronic ticketing/toll system development, GIS and information technology for planning purposes. I have been appointed independent engineer, evaluator and reviewer for several substantial development projects in Norway and abroad.
