Hovedfokus for forskning:
Medfødt immunitet med særlig vekt på inflammasjon (betennelse), spesielt i sammenheng med hjerte-/karsykdom og diabetes eller leddgikt. Måling av inflammasjonsmarkører i blodprøver, og undersøkelse av variasjon i gener knyttet til inflammasjon og hvordan dette påvirker sykdomsrisikoen. Inflammasjon utløst av biomaterialer (kunstige materialer som brukes ved medisinsk behandling), bl.a. ved bruk av hjerte-/lungemaskiner. Komplikasjoner etter åpen hjertekirurgi.
Undervisningsområder:
Immunologi, transfusjonsmedisin, ernæring, basal statistikk.
