Dr. Stine H. Bang Svendsen recently defended her doctoral thesis "Affecting Change? Cultural Politics of Sexuality and 'Race' in Norwegian Education" (14.01.2014). Her current research interests are race and colorblindness in the Nordic context, and specifically how sexuality, gender and nature come to matter in current Nordic cultural politics.

With Prof. Åse Røthing, she has written the book Seksualitet i skolen. Perspektiver på undervisning (Cappelen 2009) about sex education. She also writes about sexuality in Norwegian immigration policy, and the role of LGBT issues in new northern European racist discourses. Dr. Svendsen's educational background is in American Studies (MA) and Gender Studies (BA), both from the University of Oslo. Her PhD is in interdisciplinary studies of culture, from NTNU.
