Jeg forsker på økonomisk historie, og særlig på før-industriell globalisering og utviklingen av økonomiske strukturer i samfunnet, særlig Norge. Jeg har og arbeidet innen teknologihistorie, i all hovedsak tekstilteknologi, og sosial og kulturhistorie, da først og fremst  med spredning av eksotiske varer og konsekvensene av dette i førindustrielle samfunn.  I all hovedsak etterstreber jeg et transnasjonalt og globalt perspektiv på det jeg arbeider med.

For tiden arbeider jeg mest med koblingen mellom utviklingen av innenriksmarked og fremveksten av verdensmarkedet gjennom å følge varestrømmer og konsekvensene av disse. Som case studie følger jeg tømmerets utvikling til en global vare som fant sted i  forkant av den industrielle revolusjon, og spredningen av eksotiske varer i det fremvoksende norske markedet på samme tid.

Jeg har min PhD fra European UniversityInstitute, Firenze (www.eui.eu), hovedfag i historie fra Universitetet i Oslo (www.uio) og en MsC i Global historie fra London School ofEconomics and Political Science. Av annen arbeidserfaring har jeg vært vit.as ved Norsk lokalhistorisk institutt, skrevet Justervesenets historie og er involvert i lokalhistorieprosjektet til Stor-Elvdal kommune. Jeg har ellers arbeidet med utdanningspolitikk, bl.a. en kortere tid i Forskerforbundet og Nærings og handelsdepartementet, som studentpolitiker bl.a. i norsk Studentunion, og som koordinater for Lausungeaksjonen.

 I work on economic history, focusing especially on pre-industrial globalization and economic development, using primarily Norway as the case. I have worked on technological history, mainly early modern textile technologies, as well as social and cultural history, especially the spread of consumer trends and exotic goods. I strive to have a transnational and global perspective in all that I work on.

Presently I am working on the interconnections between the development of internal markets and the development of the world market. I do this by following timbers way to becoming a global commodity in the pre-industrial period, and the spread of exotic goods in the emerging Norwegian market at the same time.

My PhD is from the European University Institute, Florence, I have a Cand Philol in history from the University of Oslo and a MSc in Global history from the London School of Economics. I have also written the history of the Norwegian Metrology Service, and am involved in a local history project in the community Stor-Elvdal. I have also been involved in university and higher education politics for several years.
