Jorunn Helbostad er professor i bevegelsesvitenskap, er nestleder på INM og har ansvar for bevegelsesforskning og for drift av bevegelseslaboratorier på INM.

Forskningsinteresser:
- Bevegelsesvansker og fall hos eldre,
- Måling og påvirkning av balanse, gangfunksjon og fysisk aktivitet
Pågående studier:
- FARSEEING: EU, IKT prosjekt for å forebygge fall og bedre hjelp til personer som faller
- ProFouND: EU, IKT, implementeringsprosjekt for å ta i bruk kunnskap om fallforebygging i praksis
- Hoftebruddstudier: Behandling og rehabilitering etter hoftebrudd: effekt på mobilitet og fysisk aktivitet
- Generasjon 100: Populasjonsbasert RCT blant elder 70-77 år i Trondheim; fysisk trening for primært å utsette hjertekarsykdom og død, og sekundært for å bedre fungering i hverdagen
