BAKGRUNN:
Arild Holm Clausen ble uteksaminert som sivilingeniør fra Institutt for konstruksjonsteknikk ved Bygningsingeniøravdelingen ved daværende NTH i 1991. Han ble dr.ing i 1999. Siden 2003 har Clausen vært førsteamanuensis ved Institutt for konstruksjonsteknikk, og siden 2007 professor.
FORSKNING:
Arild Holm Clausen er involvert i forskningsgruppa SIMLab (Structural Impact Laboratory). Dette er ett av 14 Senter for forskningsbasert innovasjon (SFI), oppnevnt av Norges forskningsråd for perioden 2007-2014. Gruppa arbeider med materialer og komponenter utsatt for dynamisk last. Aktuelle materialer primært metaller og polymerer. SIMLab disponerer et velutstyrt laboratorium. Samspillet mellom eksperimentelle undersøkelser og numeriske simuleringer er hovedplattformen i forskningen ved SIMLab. Clausens primære ansvarsområde er modellering av polymerer og høyhastighets materialtesting.
UNDERVISNING:
Clausen har undervisningserfaring i mekanikkemnene Mekanikk 1, 2, 3 og Konstruksjonsmekanikk - beregningsmetoder samt stålkonstruksjoner og elementmetoden.
