PhD project
The body, remediated. Scientific images of the body in art and popular science. (NFR, KULVER 2010-2014)
The topic for this project is how scientific images and visualisations of the human body are used and produced for exhibitions and events within the contexts of art and popular science. With theoretical perspectives and analytical strategies from the fields of aesthetics and visual culture studies I want to examine in what way the values of scientific images and technologies are negotiated and possibly transformed when used for different purposes and in different contexts, ie. the visual discourses of art and popular science.
The project is part of Inside out. New Images and Imaginations of the Body, led by Prof. Merete Lie.
